(Communicating the Pain as Suicide Survivors): Navigating
the Ocean of Grief after the Suicide Death of a Loved One
The mission of ComPASS is to provide a safe place of support, understanding, and education during the journey of loss following the suicide death or a loved one. This group is open/ongoing for those who have lost a family member, friend, or co-work to suicide. Not appropriate for observers or those who have survived a suicide attempt.
2nd Monday of each month, 6 -p.m. – 7:30 p.m., Peninsula Knox Clinic, Lower Level

Enhancing Recovery Wisdom Group

A community-run 12-step group for family members and friends who have concerns about the substance use or mental illness of a loved one. Mondays 7 p.m. – 8 p.m. This group is held at Peninsula Lighthouse, 1451 Dowell Springs Blvd. (Upper Level), and is free of charge.
Family Support Group
This group is open to the families/ support system for current patients, as well as former patients and their support. Call to learn more about the process of crisis stabilization here at Peninsula Hospital, resources available to you and your loved one during and after discharge, and how to support yourself or your loved one in moving towards greater well-being. Each group will include an educational portion. You will also have a chance to ask questions, either to be addressed during the group discussion or to be given to your loved one’s treatment team (for currently hospitalized patients). You are not alone and you are an important part of your loved one’s journey towards recovery. Please join us while your loved one is hospitalized or any time afterwards that new obstacles arise. Managing Relationships Group
Do you have difficulty standing up for yourself or saying no? Do you feel like people always take advantage of you? Do you take care of other people but fail to take care of yourself? Do you try to make other people happy but are left unhappy yourself? Are you afraid to express your feelings for fear of hurting people’s feelings or not being liked?
Learn to use assertive communication to stand up for yourself, deny unreasonable requests, express opinions, ask for favors, accept or refuse invitations, initiate conversations and improve self esteem in order to improve all types of personal and professional relationships. Skills in these areas reduce anxiety and depression and increase feelings of self worth.

New Beginnings Group
An outpatient group therapy session for adults with alcohol and drug abuse issues seeking support to maintain sobriety. The group focuses on strengthening relapse prevention skills, refining coping skills and building social supports. Requires referral from the therapist.
Wednesdays, 1 to 2:30 p.m.
Topics include social skills, distress tolerance skills and emotional regulation.
