Peninsula, a division of Parkwest Medical Center, has set a new standard for effective, innovative and caring mental health services in East Tennessee. With a combined total of 75 years of experience, the members of Peninsula have helped thousands of people recover from their disorders and dependencies and lead healthy, positive and productive lives. The area's leading mental healthcare providers came together in 1996 to better provide cost-effective and high-quality care to children, adolescents and adults. This consolidation yields increased access to care, enhanced quality, and improved efficiency. Many of these benefits have already been realized, while some will develop more fully over time. By taking a leadership role in the changing healthcare environment, Peninsula has created an organization that is truly committed to improving the health of the people and communities it serves. With more than 12 service locations in five counties, Peninsula is more than just buildings. We are people with a strong commitment to caring, quality programming and service. Peninsula is dedicated to maintaining a high level of professionalism for its more than 700 employees by offering continuous training and educational opportunities. Our approach to effective treatment includes the involvement of multi-disciplinary treatment teams - comprised of psychiatrists, psychologists, nurses, social workers, activities therapists, certified substance abuse counselors, and other mental health professionals - working together to develop treatment and discharge plans that best meet the physical and emotional needs of our patients. The sharing of information and interaction among all departments helps assure our treatment guidelines reflect the individuality of each patient. By bringing together the spectrum of clinical and medical resources available at Peninsula, we are able to develop successful pathways to recovery for each patient. In addition to inpatient and outpatient programs, Peninsula offers a range of services designed to support successful and fulfilling recoveries by patients and their families. Extensive aftercare services, crisis intervention, in-home treatment options, and supportive housing and employment programs help people maintain healthy lifestyles and improve their quality of life. Our goal is to help the individual achieve and maintain a higher level of functional independence at home, school, work, and leisure.
Peninsula's advisory board, made up of community and professional leaders, is committed to the efficient management of resources and the assurance of quality care. Because we are a community-owned, not-for-profit organization, Peninsula's primary concern is the well-being of our patients and our community.
