Warren Butler
Warren enjoyed oil painting as a hobby while practicing law as a founding partner of Butler, Vines and Babb. Upon retirement from the practice of law, all of his leisure time was quickly filled with art. He is self-taught with a few workshops and study groups along the way.
He and his wife, Nancy, have three grown children: John, a local attorney; Tom, owner of Butler & Bailey Market; and Lucy, a veterinarian in Texas. The couple lives in Knoxville most of the year, but also spends time in Naples, Florida, and Pawleys Island, South Carolina. The influence of each of these locales can be seen in much of Warren's work.
He paints exclusively in oils, but enjoys experimenting with variations of style. Commissioned work holds a special interest for him, with each presenting a unique challenge. Warren would much rather have a brush in his hand than be selling his works, but loves participating in benefit sales like Artsclamation!
"This event has it all," says Warren. "There's a great party, wonderful staff and volunteers, delicious food, good sales to good people, and a worthy cause. What's not to like?"
Warren never tires of painting, and is always checking the surroundings, camera in hand, for possible subjects and scenes. He has been in several juried and one-man shows, is represented by Davis Studio in Knoxville and Premieres Gallery in Pawleys Island, and is a member of the Tennessee Artists Association.
